Did you ever think of trying your hand at making your own rigs? Personally I prefer using my own rigs as I know all the knots are tied properly and all the components are decent, not to mention the fact that its a lot cheaper.

i was given a few gerys rigs as a gift, they seem to be the best shop rigs i have seen, but u still prefer to tie my own. i will still buy the odd rig to see how its done and then try to copy it and maybe do my own version of it

agreed. greys are the business in that space. buy one and use it as a model for your own. it can be an expensive business...

i have used greys rigs alot. I have been known on occasion to be very lazy and take the greys rigs apart and tie additional bits on. for example added an srt spring to a loop rigs or added beads to snoods.
If I have the time I love making my own rigs and finding that they are the ones that catch the most fish.
One point is that the rig maker doesnt know what beach you are going to fish, wether it be a clean beach with slow current where long snoods can be used or the opposite. My rig wallet is bursting to the brink and rigs in there that havent not seen a tap of water.

It is, unless its the night before a comp and you have a couple of toddlers "helping". Helping meaning beads in mouth and nose, sampling tagends, playing with hooks and threatening to swallow enough metal to sink a ship. Then its not so much fun.... :D Greys readymade rigs are the best on the market and for the price and quality, I carry a wad of the 3 hook clipped and loop rigs now to save time.
Fluff chucking is the new black..... Rampant Wreckfish is a fly angler in denial :D

nothing better than cup of tea, lazing on the couch building rigs on a Saturday afternoon. have to say most pre-tied rigs are rubbish, the hooks are big enough to catch moby dick, the swivels are outrageous and the lines thick enough to reel a land rover discovery. theres a new company on the market called irish pro match rigs or something similar, sold in a blue packet. they seem quite good, viking in bray sell them
