Rocks at High Rock Portmarnock

#1 Post by John 65 »

Does anybody know if there is any point in fishing High Rock Portmarnock ?.I have seen it fished but have never heard what what was caught. If there is any point of fishing there what species are there during the summer. What would be the best bait for that area?

Mackeral can be caught there on summer evenings. I also know someone who has caught one or two (small) bass while spinning from the rocks. I assume they were following the mackeral shoals. Might be a good place to try plugging on a summers evening.

I also know people who fish their for bass ( up to 7lb ) . They use plugs and redgills . Best time to fish their is very early morning are late evening . I didnt get a chance to fish their last year for the bass but I am defiantly going to give it a shot this summer/autumn . Also try further down the rocks towards the estuary ( think its known as low rock ) The ground is rougher and it might a few better fish .
