Bass Fishing Dublin / Wicklow

#1 Post by stevo74 »

Hi all,
New to Bass fishing here and planning on heading out next weekend. Marks I've heard of are the Breaches in Kilcoole ,Silver strand & Jacks Hole all in Wicklow. Anyone fished there before? For bait I have squid ,crab, sandeels & some mack. Also have some plugs & lures.

Anyway I welcome any tips on baits, tides, etc

try ennerilly or brittas bay after a good easterly breeze big black lug or a full calamari squid will work but you will need a bit of a chop on the water.

It's been pretty poor with the lures since end of July, stormy seas and bad water colour haven't helped. Lure fishing usually dies off around Dublin and Wicklow at end of this month, if you can get a dawn or dusk high tide with calmish seas sometime this month it would be worth a shot to get out before the light comes up or an hour before it gets dark. It's hard to predict the weather though and if seas are to rough for lures just do as Samo says.
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at the office!

cheers lads. Is Silver strand worth a shot or am I better off going straight to Brittas Bay?
