Sea Trout, South Beach Greystones

#1 Post by gitboy »

i was fishing on south beach last sunday and there was a lot off ppl spinning up near the river, my first guess was that they were after mackeral as there were dolphins, seals and gannets lashing the water out of it, the place was alive. but then a about a 5lb sea trout hopped up in front of my rod(nearly s*** myself) and i proceeded to see no less than ten trout jumping clear of the water... can any one give me advice on spinner selection or tactics to bag one of these silver tourists...thanks

Try a toby lure between 12 and 18 grammes. Silver and blue should work, or try black and gold as it gets dark. Line b/s should be 8lb or so. Make sure to set your drag properly or you will be smashed!
