There are plenty mackerel around at the moment. Not sure if they are on the shoreline on that side of the harbour. You could try at Graball Bay or Church Bay or Camden Pier. Will the boats not stop for mackerel on the way out?

Heard there is no bait drop Jim, you need to have it all with you...
Haven't been down there for a while, but Myrtleville and Fountainstown are usually good bets if you can get in amongst the bashers. Also down behind pfizers on the back side of ringaskiddy has a nice quiet beach that was throwing up plenty of macks, but haven't been down that way for a couple of weeks either.

Re: MACKERAL CARRIGALINE/CROSSHAVEN
At last Years IFSA AGM a motion was passed which will allow the boats to fish for mackerel in the Boat Master Angler etc prior to lines down time. The place is absolutely stuffed with them presently and won't be a problem.

Boats depart at 9.00 if all goes to plan and with lines down at 11.00 I can't see much time for a stop for bait. Some of the better fishing grounds are over an hour spin for most of the boats

Re: MACKERAL CARRIGALINE/CROSSHAVEN
Hi WrasseBasher,
I fished Church bay last evening and only got one. Some other guy had two before I arrived and that was it.
Tide wasn't great and it will be an hour worse this evening.
Drove around Fountainstown as well but not a gull to be seen.
Good luck in the Comp.
