People:30
Duration:6pm - 10pm
Tide:3.6m filling
Weather:Slightly overcast, with a weak s/w breeze
Bait:crab, lug, rag, sandeel + macks
dd
Rigs:various
Results:79 - flats, eels, coalies, whiting and 1 small cod
Report:To start I'd like to thank John O'Brien at the Waterford Angling and Outdoor centre for sponsoring this competition, all the proceeds go to the R.N.L.I., and I'd like to thank
the lads from other clubs for turning up, there were anglers from Cloyne S.A.C., Rinnashark and Ardmore in attendance.
From the start we were expecting this to be mainly flattie bashing and we weren't disappointed, with Brian Mansfield reeling in a flounder with his first cast, but in the first hour it was patchy with only a handful of anglers with fish - all flounder. As the tide progressed though there signs that things were picking up when Colin Horgan and Brian Mansfield both brought in double shots of flounder within a half an hour of each other, Alan Mulcahy was steadily catching away and there were fish showing up all over the bank - all except the last 8 pegs where i was.
As it began to get dark the fishing improved again with coalfish being sporadically caught along the bank and the odd flounder still turning up, the only problem most of us had were the tiny whiting that were stripping most of the bait. An hour or so after dark a handful of eels were also caught and one SMALL cod.
The results are as follows
1st Alan Mulcahy 530pts (13 fish) , 2nd Colin Horgan 443pts(11 fish), 3rd Brian Mansfield 362pts, 4th Jamie Santry 235, 5th David Keating 221pts, 6th Mick Maher 205pts, 7th Cliff Gallogley 159pts, 8th Kieran Kilcawley 153pts, 9th Tom Maher 124pts, 10th Barry O'Rourke 119pts, 11th Robert Power 116pts, 12th Mossey Griffin 86pts, 13th Danny Cannon 81pts, 14th James Kiniry 78pts, 15th Clinton Rackman 76pts, 16th Ken Hogan 74pts, 17th Alistair Cope 41pts, 18th Brendan O'Regan 38pts.

No bream, but there are flounder still on the other side of the bay, and if the weather keeps getting colder you might want to start using the prawns down the quays in a couple of weeks.

You might want to try some of the beaches round that side as well, Ardmore would be worth a try if there was no weed.
