Waterfoot Beach. 19/9/2008

#1 Post by contender »

People:Me

Duration:22.30 to 02.30

Tide:high about 3am

Weather: fine

Bait:Rag. Mack and Sandeel
dd
Rigs:2 hook flappers and running ledger

Results:9 Dogs. 2 Flounders. 2 Whiting

Report:Was out on my own and thought i would try Waterfoot Pier, but it was packed out. I then went to the beach at the flat roof and got set up. Not a sinner on the beach which made it feel a bit spooky  . First cast just got me some weed and i thought it was gonna be bad for the rest of the session, but it was fine. Nothing for the first hour or so then i got a dog on rag on the bottom hook. Was thinking then at at least i did not blank. Half an hour or so later the other rod went with another dog. Then it was just a run of them with adouble shot of Flounder and Dog on the flapper. One rod took a small knock and i just left it, thoght it was a crab and then it took a dive and i reeled it in to find a Whting had took the bait and a dog had took the Whiting :D .. I was well pleased with myself and packed up about 2.30. Total 13 fish.

nice session mate, we've been meaning to fish that spot for a while now. i was told you only have to cast out a short distance to get into the fish which would suit jordan down to the ground. he has still to get his first flat fish and that mark would be ideal. he loves doggies so it would be a cracking spot for him. might get up this weekend provided weather and work are both playing ball

A short cast of 15 to 20ft is fine for the flatties. The dogs may be a bit further out most of the time, but no need for a super long cast. One of the dogs i had on friday was very close in. You can also get a few coalies in very close too after dark.

Nice session. I have always had plenty of flatties and Coalies there but only the odd Doggie. I have heard it has thrown up a few Thornies and Bass this year too.

Was up ther a run on saturday 20th from 11am til 6pm caught flounder after flounder eventually stopped counting them mostly undersize with 1 keeper but all went back to fight another day, my 10yr old out fished me pulling in double shots all day.

Used lug and rag with 2 hook beaded traces.

Just to update this lads. Went up last night with a mate to this spot and there was plenty of Flounders to be had before dark and a few whiting after dusk. Also had a small Plaice and a Coalie. The Dogs where scarce though. Cheers
