Greystones Rocks (South End), Wicklow, 20/09/08

#1 Post by sadact »

People:Myself & Junior

Duration:4 hrs (1:00pm - 5:00pm)

Tide:Rising

Weather:ddFine

Bait:Mack & Cooked Prawn
dd
Rigs:3/0 Pulley, 2 Hook Flapper

Results:1 x Dab, 1 X Whiting, 1 x Mullet

Report:
Due to prior commitments (Millbank on the razzlle  ), our regular Saturday night Wexford session was cancelled. Not wanting to waste the fine weather, I headed down to the rocks a Greystones for a quick fix. A mack fillet was fished at distance & Junior tried to increase his species list with a wrasse or two. Got the dab & whiting on the pulley (hook was bigger that the whiting, hungry little git!). Junior decided to switch to mack strip as the prawns proved useless. he flicked out his rig and almost vanished off the rocks as a mullet hit his bait just as he closed over the bail arm on his reel.
After a short fight, he got the fish up & onto the rocks just as the hook length snapped. We took a quick pic & then got an earfull from a couple of lads that had pulled in their van. They could not understand why anyone would throw back a perfectly good salmon...................

Sadact,

Junior is beginning to make us look really bad (or at least worse than we are). His recent Bass, now his monster Mullet, and not forgetting his 20 plus fish on our previous outing is in need of a handicap. I'd suggest that on the next session, we either tie one hand behind his back, or make him fish with bare hooks. Mind you, at the rate this young man is hauling them in, he'd probably still beat us by the session's end!

Junior - WELL DONE!!!!!! - yet another species to add to your list for 2008 - we'll have to book lessons with you if you keep this up?
