To the right of the beach at Greenore, where it shallows up and down towards the Oyster farm you will come accross mullet and the odd sea trout late and early. Fishing off the beach itself, I've only ever got Dogs and Dabs, however the odd Tope and very odd ray are caught there. Around at the point beside the harbour entrance, you also have a chance of a conger when the tides not pulling too hard. As you can tell I'm no expert on this venue.

I'm heading down that way myself sometime over the next week.

I always give it a go after the kids go back to school, bit more space on Greenore Beach for the mackeral on the fly.

Has anyone heard of many Bass being caught this year. I hear its not been good! Possibly due to lack of effort due to the weather.

If there's a chance of bass I'll try the fly (big olive clousers) or frozen sandeel behind a bubble float.

Apart from mackeral, bass & sea trout are there any other species caught from the shore at this time of year.

I have fished greenore a couple of times. Plenty of dogs and mackerel to be had there. You will need a license for the sea trout as the ballifs have been there everytime I have been there. good luck

I'm one of those guys who always puts the Sea trout back.

I'm in a wee club that fishes a sea trout river. I know how much effort goes into looking after a seatrout river, running a hatchery etc. so I don't take any sea trout.
