and i agree with what your saying about the toby (silver/blue)
i dont do a lot of spinning, but when i do i go with the toby.
if i had to pick a couple of lures out of a box, frist would be the
toby, and a sliver eel as the second. but feel that the toby is
one of the best all round lures you can get.......

How ya doing cortaz i was talking to a couple of lads in wicklow and they told me you were the man to talk to about catching bass.We have tried brittas bay and courttown but no joy.thinking about taking a trip down your way to try this w.e...any info would be much appreciated because we need to get at least one this year!!

Had an appointment with the Bass Doctor (Cortaz) on Sunday.

Was in the Cunnigar myself sunday morning in the rain, had about a half dozen up to about 4lb on various lures well outside the oyster beds. Water was very cloudy though and only got the fish when I changed over to surface poppers to cause a bit of disturbance. Saw a few people out spinning as well in the distance as I was arriving but they seemed to give up as the weather worsened. Tried again for about half an hour at high tide but the water got too dirty and weedy for lure fishing.
Also rescuded a mullet of about 4lbs that beached itself somehow in the shallow water as the tide was rising... (!)

full razor conditions were good, would have liked a bit of colour in the water, that beach is only about 150 meter long and can only be fished over l.w. if you look you can see a gully between the beach and the first wave, had 3 fish out of it last time i fished there,,, about a week ago.........just beond the headland theres some of the best bass ground in waterford, 2 miles of reefs that stop at the longships rock, theres 3/4 small beaches there that i douth have ever been fished.

Would have given it more had it not looked so lean. Strange for this time of year. Has the look of a Bass in April/May

Its been at least a year since I had a fish that size.....

goin by the scales the lads had 8+?.good scrap yu know when you lift into em at range, and then have to take a few steps forward to counteract the first surge and then feel the thump/thump of a "heavy" happy days o yeah the reel wasent workin and i got em on a rusty hook that roger the doger gave me a few months back..

Not this time, took a chance and used my light carp outfit with 6lb line. Has previously landed me 20lb pike so figured it was up to the job. Had intended flyfishing but the wind was a bit too squally for it. I would have followed you down to Clonea (I presume thats where ye all were) only for the fact that I had no bait with me. Next time I'll definitely be more prepared!
Did I see ye heading in at that pier thats located between Cunnigar and Helvig?
