Dungarvan, Co Waterford 31 Aug and 1 Sept

#1 Post by FMCN »

People:me

Duration:3 sessions 2-3 each

Tide:high and low

Weather:ddmoderate to blustery SW

Bait:king rag and lures
dd
Rigs:one up one down

Results:6 bass

Report:Drove down to Dungarvan to arrive for high tide at dawn. Fished at the cunnigar for 2.5 hours over high water. Looked perfect but not a bite and didn't see any fish moving. :? Headed of for a bit of breakfast before heading out to the low water mark for a bit of lure fishing. Fished about 2.5 hours over low water in conditions just about perfect and i had 6 takes but only managed to net 3 fish. After the all nighter and 2 sessions retired early. Up the next morning to what looked like another perfect day. Headed back out to the low water mark and fished about 1.5 hours up to low water. Another 3 bass in the net. What had started as a perfect day had now turned decidedly windy and i was now fishing in white water which when your wading up to your waist several hundred yards from shore isn't comfortable, so decided to call it a day and start the long drive home. Enjoyable couple of sessions and some nice fish. All bass in the 4-6 lb range. Only took the one photo of the last bass i caught as i was on the way in and close enough to the shore to get a photo before releasing.

Thanks, yep always worth the trip. Could fish closer marks but i enjoy the deep wading and area you can cover at Dungarvan. Unique, i think.

Hi Eoghan

Love to get down. I was seriously looking at this weekend then a wedding came up, so it looks like it will be into October before i get another week in Kerry. You can let me know how the fishing is and maybe give me one of your secret marks.
 Tight lines.

Will do of course F, but If I remember correctly you saw me at the gully mark one morning. I was pulling bass out for fun while you were giving the sea trout an awful time with that small bass bullet lure...! Nice fishing when you can get it.
If you are unsure of its exact location I will remind you as a few feet either side and you can blank.

But drop me a pm before you head off and i'll put you on to a few good marks down there.

Cheers

Eoghan

Francis,

Sounds like it was well worth the trip. Weather has been rubbish lately. Fair play for getting out.
