Mullet in Dublin

#1 Post by adam.urwin »

Hi, I was walking in Dublin last night and saw at least 5 large shoals of Mullet around the Clontarf Strand area at just before low tide. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried fishing for them there? Looks like you might need waders to get out past the weed, not sure if that would spook them though? Does anyone have any ideas as to how to go after them as I've never mullet fished before?
Fish 2009; Whiting, Dab, Pollock, Short Spined Sea Scorpion, Flounder, Ballan Wrasse, Bass, Blennie, Tompot Blennie, Coalfish.

Right across from the car park up to the old swimming area. There must have been about 5 separate shoals all very close in. I could see individual fish within around 10 feet of the wall. The water was 2 to 3 feet deep. The only problem I would say is the amount of weed.
