Culdaff rock mark 02/09/08

#1 Post by PaddyB »

Had a few hours to kill last night so I headed down to the rocks out behind culdaff pier, I was over at a good looking spot on the rocks to the left of the stone tables. I landed probably around 10 or more Pollack and Coalies and four or five wrasse. Despite the numbers I was still disappointed with the size of fish, all off the Pollack and coalies were around the 1.5lb mark, with one or two slightly bigger. I did land one nice wrasse which was about 3lb, it put up a great fight on the light gear. All fish were taken on Rag fished on the float and all were returned.

I tried varying the depth from the float, but to be honest I find that anything over 10ft just becomes a whole hand’lin to get out any distance.

If anyone would like to pm rock marks around Inishowen that hold decent sized fish, they would be most welcome!

hi paddy,
are you tieing your float onto your mainline ?
i find useing a slideing float and a stop knot is the best way to go, even if your stop knot is set at 4 foot or 10 foot, it should not make any differance when casting, as your float will be sitting at the top of your rig ( clip ) on every cast you make. hope this helps.....
as ole rab c said " see me' see the sea' i love the sea me"
