ennereilly( the crap part!!) 31-08-08

#1 Post by eyesreilly »

People:Me, Fishface and John Bunn

Duration:7pm-9.30pm

Tide:rising

Weather:dd fine

Bait:lug,rag,mack
dd
Rigs:flappers, 1 hook clipped down

Results:me; 1 whiting 1 dab, + 2 euro , fishface 1 whiting, John Bunn

Report:Went to Kilcoole but there was a competition on, no fish being caught and loads of weed so we moved down to Ennereilly. We fished the part nearest Arklow, dont know what its called. Despite previous unsuccessful attempts to catch fish here, we were willing to give it another try  . There was one other angler there further up the beach so we set up and waited to see which one of us would catch the first fish,,,,,,,,,and waited,,,,,and waited,,,,and waited

An hour later we were getting that BLANK feeling so we decided to make it more exciting by putting 1 euro a man into the kitty for the first fish caught. This concentrated our minds and we strained to see the inevitable bites which would surely come,,,,,,wouldnt they :? :? . Ever notice how the mind plays tricks when your watching the rod tip  ,,,,,you can go into a dreamlike state and see it move  ,,,,,, or catch it moving out of the corner of your eye each time you look away  . Anyways to cut a long story short there was a small whiting hooked when i reeled in. Whoopee,,,,, 2 euro to me (sad or what??).

John Bunn had had enough and packed up. He hasnt had much luck on this beach(blanking every time  ) but I reckon he didnt want to be the only one to blank ,,so he left before Fishface inevitably caught on his last cast. I had a small dab next and after fishface caught a small whiting to save his blank (he always pulls one out of the bag  ),,, we left,,, swearing never to return.

ps,, if anyone knows how the comp at kilcoole fished i'd love to know

Well done on the 2 euros

Some beaches are like that - they look like they should hold fish but either the fish are too smart or there's nothing there
