#1 Post by thelegend »

People:me and dave

Duration:7.30-10.30

Tide:?

Weather:ddlovely

Bait:rag,peeler,razor,mackerel
dd
Rigs:3 hook flappers,2 hook clipped

Results:dabs, dogs,whiting,mackerel, RAY,mystery fish

Report:lovely day got a call from the mate dave to gofishing , lovely except dave was on a run of 6 blanks, was dubious didnt want to catch whatever bad luck he has as i have a comp on sunday,  sorry dave.
headed to courtown anyway picked up fresh rag and hit the north beach, beautiful evenin and was itchin to get stuck in, dave was first away with a small dab chuffed is not the word , he grew 2 feet taller immediatly 8) followed up with 2 mackerel on a 3 hook flapper baited with rag  ,now he was enormous, offf with the flapper and straight to my tackle box for feathers and a german sprat (mack basher) dave spun away til well after dark  with several more mackerel caught he was on cloud nine.
i had two rods set up one far out one close, first cast on far rod produced a treble, two dogs and a spiny, spikey yoke, it was speckled red, triangular shaped ,small dorsal quarter round lots of spines under the pectoral finsheadin back towards the tail, red tail as well, didnt get a good pic of it but someone will know what it is .
far rod again next cast produced a dab followed by my first RAY woo hooo :D :D delighted as ihad lost a ray here 6 weeks ago in the surf :( thanks to all the lads on the site for their advice on targeting ray) more dabs and dogs followed and a 16 cm whiting on a 3/0 aberdeen loaded with razor(big mouth for a small fish  )
had a great evenings fishing , all fish returned to fight another day, except for the half dozen macks dave kept for the supper(greedy bugger) he be ringing everday to go fishing now, six species in 3 hours i be back soon myself 8)
