north wexford beach 29/30th august 08
People: myself, shamoo, stevecrow and saltydog
Duration: 20.00 - 02.00
Tide: LT 01.00
Weather: overcast misty, for over an hour it was heavy with everything wet
Bait: fresh mack, lug, rag, frozen sandeel, crab, squid
Rigs: 2 hook flapper, 3 hook flaper, pulley, 1 up 1 down, 1 hook flowing, pennel pulley
Results: 4 bass, 2 smoothies, 6 dogs, 1 flounder, 1 silver eel, 1 whiting
Report: well intended to be fishing round 5pm but the cross country traffic became too much so we had to catch fresh bait off the pier!!
then there was few beers and then food - and finally 3 hours later we got fishing - on first cast mark gets a good smut - 5-6lbs
then steve got one 4-5lbs
then mark was into a bass 3lb
then steve into one slightly bigger - thought it was going to be a contest between the 2
all on the first few casts!!!

on que mark gets a whiting just to keep the heads in check - it goes quiet for an hour and then mark gets a dog and a standard issue silver eel - he hates them - but they love him!!
he then gets a smaller bass - on fire this man!
next i finaly get a flounder - love those flatties
and in the next 15 mins - i got a bass and then 2 dogs
salty eventually got into 3 dogs on his own turf
for the last hour and a bit it then went quiet
so we retired after a few beers and then more tasty food back at the ranch

Met up with the lads & brought them to my fav mark. As corbyeire said we intended fishing around the 5 o'clock mark but tractors horse boxes lorries & anything else you could think of put paid to that. Which was a pity as this mark fishes very well for 3hrs before & 2hrs after high tide. Pleased for the lads they all conected with bass with shamoo & steve taking nice smuts. Shamoo outfished us all with 5 species & the most fish welldone Mark I lost a bass in the surf shortly after the lads caught theirs too busy talking checked my rod slack lined reeled in hot him into the surf but there's a ledge in front of where I set up & he got off bummer but thankfully the dogs spared my blushes!! Nice to meet a new face in shamoo

Re: north wexford beach 29/30th august 08
Not much for me to add really, the lads have it well covered.
Great to meet saltydog and steve for the first time, after reading many of their reports I can now put a face to the names. Many, many thanks to saltydog for the accomodation aswell, saved a lot of hassle pitching tents etc.
Heres a few more pic's though.
Oops....Perhaps I should give my thanks to corbyeire.....as I was stood chatting up the beach, a bite had pulled my tripod over, corbeire gave me a shout, I rushed down, struck and low and behold fish on.... after a short scrap I beached my best smut yet, so cheers corbyeire without you I might not of got him.
BTW Steve doesnt look too happy in the photo with his smut....perhaps its because it was smaller than mine

, he aint half competetive that lad...he didnt stop bragging all night about having the biggest bass of the session(notice how he's smiling much more for that photo
