Dublin area 30/08

#1 Post by Richie07 »

People:Me

Duration: 6.00 am -10.30

Tide:low when I arrived, then in about 2 hours

Weather:not great.. misty , slight breeze, cold, damp. Thought it would be a bit warmer with less wave action.

Bait: Lure- Maria Chase
dd
Rigs:

Results:1 Bass, 2 Mackerel, 1 Pollock and a launce.

Report: Had a look at this mark at low tide a few weeks back and decided to give it a go. It's quite tricky to fish as you have to arrive at low tide, so you have to be exact on timings. Theres only a couple of hours to fish before the tide starts to cut off the mark.Arrived a bit early just to make sure. Anyway I thought it would hold a Bass and it did. Wasn't a huge one, was around the 4lb mark and after losing a few fish on my last couple of outings I was very glad to land it. Moved to another spot then and picked up the Macs and Pollock. Just glad to be able to get out with the lures after such a terrible month for weather, hopefully September will be better.
Anyway arrived home, had the Macs cooked and ready to go for the fisherie officers breakfast after her Saturday morning lie in :D .

Cheers Eyes, it's always good to get those brownie points in, you never know when you might have to nip out for an hour or two :D
I noticed you got a couple Macks at Greystones, there pretty thin on the ground this year, only catching them in 2's and 3's in a whole session. Have yet to see any bait boils this year either, this time last year the place was full of them. No wonder the seals out there look like they've spent the Summer at a health farm.

Nice one on the bass Richie, you've worked hard enough this last month or so to get it.

Was down in Wexford for the weekend fishing with a few lads off the forum here, macks galore around courtown, got 20 or so in 15 minutes on friday evening (all thought it was not quite as productive yesterday evening), great crack watching the macks pushing the sprats up into the harbour channel.....the beach was the same. Courtown is only an hours drive from Dublin, and also offers some good bass fishing on the lures (a 10lb 6oz bass was taken yesterday by a guy with a set of feathers!!!, might be worth your while heading that bit further afield on your next trip
