Kilty:

1 bass:

Have been trying a few spots the last few months between shankill and bray both ground fishing and spinning with slack enough results. I made it my mission to catch a bass here as i always felt it had potentiall.
Decided to try a spot where i had seen fish jump the previous evening. After about 5 casts a bass nailed my kilty managed to land him through the weed an rocks put up a good scrap about 2 1/2 pounds. Was delighted to get him as i had always felt there should be bass there. Persistence paid off. Sure makes up for the blanks and believe me there was alot of them. Aint fishing great.Lets hope it wasnt a one off...

I was just deciding whether to get up at 5am tomorrow. I've just made my mind up!

Jumping bass - Help!

#7 Post by theferret »

Hello all,

I'm pretty new and I'd love to start shore angling.
I'm afraid to give the location away but I saw what I think were bass jumping yesterday evening about 8pm.

Can anyone help me on what I should use to catch one of these boys.
Do I need to fly fish??

cheers

If your just starting out get a 9 to 10 ft spinning rod and reel to match load it with 15lb mono ( clear ) and a few spinners Toby's are good to start of with. Read all there is on here in the lure forum bit (some good stuff. And above all read and understand the law about fishing for bass in Ireland. http://www.cfb.ie/fishing_in_ireland/an ... ations.htm ( down the page a bit ) But I think is best to put them back...
