People:wicklow, me and Fishface, Greystones just me.

Duration:wicklow 5-9.30pm, greystones 7.30-9.15pm

Tide:falling

Weather:dd fine, breezy

Bait:wicklow, rag,lug,frozen mack
dd
Rigs:flappers, feathers lures

Results: wicklow, me and Fishface 1 whiting each :|
Greystones, 3 whiting, 1 mackeral, 1 flounder.

Report:Went to wicklow harbour with high hopes after catching a few fish, ray and coalie included, the previous thursday. Got bites from the off but no fish . There were plenty of guys under the lighthouse and they seemed to be catching a few mackeral. I had bought frozen from the tackle shop in wicklow earlier, 4'50 for 3 small joeys. These went to mush very easily and when later on we scrounged a fresh mack from a nice passing fisherman (i'm not calling him a mack basher  ) it was like chalk and cheese,. The flesh was so firm and stayed on the hook no problem. Fishface caught a whiting after a couple of hours of trying and thank god i didnt have to listen to him for long before i had one myself to save the blank. We were in the same spot as the previous week but the tide was dropping this time. It was a beautiful night with a few sailing yachts coming into the harbour.

I should have braved the mack bashers and tried for a few for the freezer but there was a kid there who torments the hell out of you when youre fishing( he knows everything   ) and the temptation to teach him to swim the hard way might have gotten the better of me    :twisted

Went to Greystones Sunday evening after work with the leftover rag and 4 lug  dug on thursdar night. Fished at the steps where Aidan, who I had met a few weeks earlier, was fishing. He had been spinning for an hour without any success, and moved to another spot nearby to try his luck. I set up and was delighted to get a double of a flounder and a whiting on the first cast  . Bait was lug on a 2 hook flapper.

Another cast and i got a good rattle, which reeling in i again thought might be a bass( you can tell i havent caught many  ) but which was in fact a mackeral  , which took rag off the bottom.

This was followed by 2 more whiting. I was delighted with the results here, 3 whiting, 1 mack and 1 flounder in less than 2 hours on a short Sunday evening session. By the way, i got the smallest fish i ever caught here last week though i didnt post a report. He saved me from blanking last monday evening, and no,,,,i didnt think it was a bass    ,,,, i'll try to post a few pics,,,,,,,someone might be interested

Well done Dave,
Thats a nice photo of Wicklow Harbour.
That small fish looks about the same size as a whiting I caught in Youghal in February - I was targeting cod and the bait was bigger than the fish
