People:me

Duration:18:10-21:50

Tide:HW @ 19:04.....4.9

Weather:Strom force westerlies with occasional showers

Bait:mackerel

Rigs:2 hook clipped 2/0,3/0 varivas big mouths & 6oz impacts

Results:3 Ray;2,4,5.5lbs
2 dogs; 1lb each
1 pup tope

Report:went for a high water session to a rarely fished mark as i knew there would be nice shelter from the stormy weather. When i arrived things did not look good..casting looked impossible with the wind and there were patches of weed half the size of a football pitch lingering in front of me..I perservered however. First two casts were non-starters with the weed but after the ebb tide moved this on i began to get a few fish..first a few small ray and dogs and then i finished up the session with a nice 5lb+ ray that got snagged on the way in...put on a bit of constant pressure and it finally succumbed....was a little unnerving fishing the conditions into the dark but was worth the result...The mark has great potential and it is also one of the few spots where the double firgure ray run regularly....got a few ray on my highlnader at long last..thought it was jinxed  and a little tope to add to the species list :)

What can I say man,

You certainly seem to know your stuff,
I reckon when you go to dodgy areas like that in the dark you should always have someone with you
They might not stop you falling in but at least they will be able to show others where you made your last stand,

Then again they might tell nobody and just keep the mark for themselves ,

Well done Gearoid. 8)
