Greystones 09/08

People: Me

Duration:4.30 am -8.30 am

Tide: HT at 5.45 m

Weather:Bad..very wet, very windy, cold.

Bait:Lures, Kilty, Maria Chase

Results: 1 Mackerel

Report:
Arrived early and with the strong winds and rough seas wasn't expecting much but as I was up and raring to go I wasn't going to head home so thought I'd give it a try.
There was alot of weed about, there was a big surf running and a massive drift going on, so it was hard work. I got the Mackerel after about half an hour so was happy enough, then I hit my favourite spot where I've had a good few Bass before and lost a schoolie in the surf only last week. I decided to try a Maria and first cast my lure got hit about 15 feet out by what felt like a steam train, Bass on, happy days, this was a big one, bigger than I've ever had before, maybe double figures, but I had the drag set way to loose and it tore off and took about 20 /25 yards off my spool, I managed to slow it down and hold the fish for a few seconds then the line went slack  , there was a good fish lost and PB due to a schoolboy error!, ah well thats fishing I suppose, at least the Mack saved the blank earlier.
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at the office!

Was that around the Greystones area Roger?, what size do you reckon it was. I'm still having nightmares about my one that got away! :(
