If I'm available I'll be there. Only a 50% chance of that though. I'm getting married in September (no comps in September pretty please!), and both sets of parents wanted to meet up in Limerick on the 11th June. I don't know how they would feel about me sneaking off for 7 or 8 hours and coming back stinking of peelers.

fishing other clubs competition.

#23 Post by dingbat »

I cannot speak for any other club BUT.

I see that there was a suggestion that a person carrying an i.f.s.a. card can fish another clubs closed competition.
The only way that can be done is as a guest with no claim on points or prizes

I'll hope to get down for that one. If any of the rest of the Donegal/Mayo members fancy car pooling then it might make even more sense.

Clare competition

I will be there, But I see reportes that 50 or 60lb line are required. What are you casting with, a 40 reel. If that is the case I will not be there. I have not got a reel that could hold that poundage of line. That to me is not angling it's torture

I Guess if you are going after large conger then sure-use 60lb line and a boat road!! All congers will count for a fixed number of "size points"- perhaps 45-50 or so anyway.
I have never used 45/60 lb line in my life.

Right - I'm 99% certain I'm going to make it.

All this talk of conger seems a little OTT. There will be loads of other species available. I am assuming congers will be treated as doggies were in the last comp - i.e. a fixed amount of points. If thats the case, then there is little point in fishing exclusively for them. Especially with the extra points going for each new species. Therefore don't let this put you off coming! I'll be happliy fishing using 18 or 20lb line!

the plan as far as i know Steve is a fixed set for congers- similar to doggies. couldn't agree more- don't let the congers put u off coming!!! as long as the weathers alright we'll have a ball!!! glad to hear you can come Steve(and everyone else for that matter!).

oh forgot to mention i took a leaf out of IDPearls book and loaded a new 525 with 65lb. braid. ooh! nice!!

Has any decided to stay over night and if so were. It would be good to get together that night and have a drink or ten.

Hi Guys,
Unfortunately, it looks like I can't make the comp now. Will try to get to one of the late ones.
Cheers
