i may be shot down for this 1 but here it goes anyway..

I was watching a documentry on juvenile sharks in america on tv a few weeks back and the sceintists were demonstrating the fish's interest in electronic pulses in the water. As many of you probably alreay know all members of the shark family (even dogs) have little pits in their noses that pick up on electric activity given off by fish(prey) movements, usually ones that are in distress.

The scientists had a number of small lemon sharks in a tank and they dropped in a dead baitfish. As expected the shark statred feeding quite furiously. The scientits also had buried in the tank under the sand a small naked wire before the fish were put in. During the feeding frenzy the they ran a small charge through the wire and as they did the sharks left the food and immediately began rooting around in the sand exactly where the wire was...

now for my question...
do ye think it would be worth somehow attaching a small battery AAA battery to your rig when fishing for tope etc..form the shore or boat..surely the charge emitted would have the same effect of attracting the fish to your bait....

makes you wonder!

Those ideas where tried years ago by quite a few different people around the world without any great success. On the other side, do you really want to pollute the ocean any more than it already gets polluted by adding the acids etc from batteries :lol: :lol:

Noise can be a good attractor, like a plastic tube with a few ball bearings inside.....taped on to your leader about 6"-8" up from the baited hook, as the surf moves it will send a sound out and bring sharks in for sure....quite a few of the American tackle shops sell different variations.

I use the Ian Golds thread dispenser tubes...don't tell him for feck sake :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
