Hi all,
Am heading down around Velenica Island in two weeks for a weekends fishing. Have never fished this part of the country just wondering can anybody recommend some good marks to fish. Thanks Gareth.

The island itself has great rock marks. You should have no problem finding a rock to spin for pollock.
Around the lighthouse has plenty of marks for wrasse & pollock and rough ground for dogs and Huss. If you do venture to Culoo there are great pollock to be had, however be careful. People in the past who were not have died, its as simple as that.
Either one of the car ferry piers will produce Dogs, Huss, Congers and occasionally ray. The channel at Portmagee should also produce the same species plus mullet in the shallows.
There are miles of beaches and reefs from Ballinskelligs to Derrynane for bass and flats.
Just pick your spot and take a chance. I'm heading down today for a week's holiday. That's what I will be doing, traveling around and trying new places.

Valencia
If anyone is fishing here in the next couple of weeks wants to hook up for a few hours fishing, then let me know. I only live a few miles away from Valencia and can point you to a few marks. I have only lived here for a couple of years and am NOT an expert, but have found a few marks, although the fishing is very different from Dungeness and the Sussex/Kent coast where I learned my craft :D

Hi Jules382
I had switched off my computer before you sent your offer of a meet. Maybe we can meet up later on in the year. I try to get down a few times a year.
Had a poor enough weeks fishing last week down there. I had hoped to fish some of the exposed deep rock marks but the gales and swell put a stop to that.
We got pollock wrasse etc and one Trigger from some sheltered marks but nothing of note. Things got worse when I pulled something in my knee and could only hobble around for the second half of the week.
