Whitelady, Clifden, 20-21/7/08
People:myself, salty dog, mga
Duration:8pm - 5am
Tide:high-low and rising
Weather:clear and calm (for a change)
Bait:sandeel mackerel lug squid
Rigs:various
Results:mackerel pollock ray doggies
Report:
headed out to mark and had to wait till the tide dropped to reach the low rocks, so an impromptu macky bashing session started up, a few mackerel came in and the odd pollock, mga chucked out a rig baited with mackerel and pulled out a nice doggie.
the tide ebbed and it was time to head to the rocks..
baited up with sandeel on a single size 1 rig and a 2 hook boom on the spinning rod baited with lugworm..
the other 2 joined me on the lower rocks, and it wasnt long before ratchets started screaming.. a nice 5.5lbs thornie..
it wasnt long before we were all catching, even though it did take saltydog a while to get one he did however manage to get the largest of the night of 6lbs.. and double doggies too..
and the doggies were even taking lugworm... great fun landing large doggies on light gear..
later i pulled what i thought was a rock attacked to a ray but ended up being a double shot as saltydog pointed out, but as i pointed out i couldnt have coz i was only using one hook , but hey.. i managed to pull out 2 thornies on a one hook rig :D the tail of the second ray was wrapped around the rig body, bringing my total to 4 ray matching mga's count.. and salty had a count of 2 ray so far .. and between the two others they had at least 20+ doggies.. and it was still early (in relative terms)..
i managed another ray towards the end of the night and more doggies on the spinning rod, last cast for everyone and salty managed to bring in the largest ray of the night (mentioned before).. managed to get a few photo's of the night and on the way home..
and i'm sure the lads will add there piece and photo's

Very enjoyable session I have to say
Weather and sea conditions were perfect and what a lovely scenic spot to fish.
I don't have any pics to post - didn't get a chance to get my camera out all night - too busy catching fish  .
I'm sure saltydog has a few to post  .
For the record, I managed 2 pollack, 4 ray and 12 doggies.
Happy days (or should I say Happy Nights/Mornings  ).
That sunrise shot came out well, Steve.

Good session nice to fish a new mark and a quality one at that too next time i'm bringing a Sherpa with me :D there were plenty of ray showing and the time just drifted by with us too busy catching to notice the sun starting to creep over the mountain  and to finish of with a 6lber at the end made up for the severe sleep deprivation i was suffering as i'd been in work at 07.00am Sun!! Dropped Steve off and then went into work at 06.40 with Martin waiting patiently in the car did a couple of things then back home for a shower and coffee and into work again for 09.00 finally got home and into bed at 14.00 having been awake for 31hrs it was worth it though a perfect summers night and plenty of fish and species hope to get one more session in before the races next week
