People:Me and mate Pete
Duration:5 hours
Tide:1 hour before high then falling
Weather: Started sunny got cloudy suprise suprise
Bait:The mighty Rag!!
Rigs:Simple 1 and 2 hook flappers
Results:50+ Wrasse mix of Ballan and Corkwing, Shanny, Long Spined Sea Scorpian and Pouting.
Report: Headed down to Bangor again to use up the Ragworm from Saturday (any excuse) and to have some fun with my new Ugly Stik 6ft mini rod. The first few hours were spent catching Wrasse nearly every cast. The casts that didnt catch were because we were to slow and hooks were stripped. Lovely Corkwings (new species for us) up to 1lb and the best Ballan was touching 2lb. The colours and markings were different with every fish. As the tide dropped the fishing slowed so we made a move to the back of the pier. Straight away into more Wrasse and two new species for me Long Spined Sea Scorpian and Shanny. Top days fishing.

We were fishing until 5pm. Didnt get your message until later. Was there anyone fishing for Mackeral when you were down. I didnt see anyone else catch fish apart from us. One guy came over asking what we were using as he had been down for five days without a fish. Think he was a bit miffed when we came down and were into fish straight away.

Nice catches! I am reading this and getting more excited by the minute. I am very new to sea fishing, been out a total of 3 times (Kilkeel Harbour) with little luck - 2 small mackerel.
I am heading up to Bangor at the weekend with a friend and was hoping that you guys could give some advice. From reading the reports it seems that there is some nice wrasse etc to be had whilst fishing hard on the bottom. Would a two hook flapper be a good choice with rag and or mackerel as bait?
Also is there any mackerel to be had on the feathers?
Thanks guys

Round_ourway yeah they sure did great crack.
Dawsey sorry for the late reply I was working night shift all week. If you are planning on fishing off the back of the pier for mackeral then you can also fish in between the boulders for the mini species and wrasse I use a very simple 1 hook rig made using a dropper loop with a snood lenght of about 4", think the hook size is about a size 4 and a kids ugly stik rod 6ft. The best bait for wrasse would be Ragworm.
