Report:Nice to see the site back up, have been lost without it these past few days,,,,,,,
Arrived at Greystones at about 7.30pm, and I seemed to have missed all of the heavy showers. There was only one other angler down at the rocks where I wanted to set up and he was friendly enough and invited me to set up near him. He had only just got there which is a line I often use myself when I haven’t caught anything  .
He was casting to the right hand side so I cast straight out in front of me which was onto sand. I was using lug tipped with mackerel and he was using ragworm. I started getting bites straight away and had a whiting on the first cast which unfortunately (for me) got off the hook just as I lifted him out of the water  . On the next cast I was getting plenty of bites and when I reeled in slowly, letting it stop every so often, I got a grey gurnard. .His photo doesn’t do him justice as I think they’re a beautiful little fish, very colourful. This fish amazed me when I released him as he jumped back out of the water twice before swimming away with his head up out of the water   .
I missed a few bites and then changed hooks down to size 1 hooks,( from size 2), which resulted in a small dab next and then a few whiting which all took the bait as I retrieved it slowly along the bottom. The other angler, Pat, had all his baits stripped all evening, with just a doggie to show, and left. When he left I tried casting where he was and my bait was also stripped, so I soon went back to where I was. All the whiting were half decent size, not monsters but bigger than of late, and on one cast I reeled in a whiting which had a doggie attached.” This’ll make a good photo “, I said to myself , but he wasn’t hooked , just had the whiting in his mouth and let go when I set them both down on the rocks. All in all a very enjoyable evening with plenty happening. I was surprised there weren’t more anglers about as it turned into a very pleasant evening, quite warm.
Big Mick arrived at 10.45pm, just as I was leaving, so I gave him the rest of my bait. He stayed there till 3 am with 9 doggies to show for it. I left with a bag of line, bottles, wrappers and other rubbish left there by others. How did they know that I’d pick it up? In all I got 1 grey gurnard, 1 dab, 1 doggie, and 7 whiting.

Well done Dave,
You got a few nice whiting there.
I must try that slow retrieve technique myself - but only over clean ground - I could see that it could be tricky over snaggy ground.
