Spiddle pier,Galway, 25/6/08

People: me and 2 others

Duration:4.5hrs 6-10:30pm

Tide:high at 10pm

Weather:cr@p.. wind and more wind.. as soon as it started rainin we left

Bait:mack squid

Rigs:various

Results: huss, shore rockling and doggies..

Report:
got a call yesterday for a spin out to the pier today, so i went along for the craic.. i wasnt expecting much so anything at all would be a bonus

bites were literally non existant for the first two hours, then the ratchet on the supermag went nuts.. felt like a good fish witth a load of weed attached then it surfaced and at first i thought i was right in thinking weed then i saw it move... oh goodie.. a huss.. there was no mistaking it by its size.. approx 5lbs of pure muscle was lifted out of the water onto the pier wall, then it bit through the snood and wiggled back into the water ( if you want to call a 12foot drop a wiggle) i like my zzippy profile more and more now after that :D , the 2 other lads i was with started to get excited by the prospects of huss in the water and large baits were fired out all directions.. only to end up with a doggie each for the 2 of them.. during this time i set up my spinning rod and started to target fish close to the pier wall.. it wasnt long before i plucked out 2 shore rockling on consecutive drops  .. then 2 macky bashers arrived and nearly took my head off with a set of hookai.. thankfully for them it started to rain so we packed up and headed home..

a nice little session with a few nice fish to boot :D

fishing, i think i'm hooked.... or should that be obsessed

well i dont think a mars bar or double decker would be any use in getting hooks out... i'm sure a 240g dairy milk bar would only stun it for a few seconds if it got a smack over the head with it...

children please   it was landed...

i had it at my feet.. lifted it back onto the wall for ease of de-hooking and photoing and it decided to make its own way back

i just wasnt going to write all that in the report (was trying to keep it as short as possible)... should have done now :?

honestly lads... only because you haven't been fishing as much there is no reason to gang up on everyone else.. i.e. me..

the pair of ye should be renamed 'Statler and Waldorf'
