Brittas, co. wicklow beach

#1 Post by eyesreilly »

People:myself, fishface. A.N. Onymous

Duration:7-11pm

Tide:rising

Weather:windy , few showers

Bait:rag,lug,mack and squid

Rigs:1 hook clipped down

Results:me, 1 starry smoothound 8) , fishface 6 doggies, 1 starry smoothound, A.N. Onymous blank  .

Report:As it was very windy out, we opted to go to a mark where we knew it was sheltered by a cliff. When i got out of the car my hat blew off my head and i was blown across the road but it was like another world down on the beach  . No wind, and the sea was fairly flat with a surf running in. I set up 2 rods but had to put one away due to the amount of weed. When the lads arrived it was Neil who started the ball rolling with a doggie on his first cast  . Proving that distance pays off he proceeded to catch consistently throughout the session, 6 dogs and 1 starry smoothound. Myself and John Bunn,,,,,,sorry i mean Mr A. N. Onymous  , could only listen to the inevitable slagging   . "Have you guys caught anything yet?"No,,, we replied but then about an hour into the session I had a rattle and reeled in a starry smoothound, my first, about the size of a small doggie, but i didnt care 8) . He went for rag tipped with mackeral. There were to be no more bites for me and John after this, just watching Neil reel them in from distance  .All in all the fishing was very poor but I was happy enough with the smoothound though,, after watching others catch them many times in the past  . Another one off the list
