mga: 1 Pollock 1 very large spider crab
Report: Arranged to meet mga for a mid week session having not fished together since the Galway meet in Little Killary. When mga arrived i had one rod out with a one up one down set up baited with a squid sandeel cocktail and spinning sandeel like silver feathers trying to stock up on some bait after a quick catch up mga was getting set up when i noticed a knock on the baited rod let it develop and then got another knock then slack line time to have a closer look struck into it and felt a decent bit of weight after some pumping and winding up pops a double shot of Thornies happys days first cast two ray :D quick photo and both were returned mga got set up and we both thought great the ray are about should be in for a few decent ones but it wasn't to be and only one more ray and two massive spider crabs (which i kept for the pot and were very tasty) were taken on the baited rods some locals were spinning for mackeral and were catching a few here and there i picked up 3 mysef and 4 pollock mga picked up 1 pollock which were in the kelp right under our feet then this halfwit came down while i was unhooking a fish and stood right in front of me and my gear and started casting  i politely had a word and he moved about 3ft away (it's not like there was a shortage of space) i could hear his lead whizz over my head and the spray of water off his line was hitting my back i looked at mga and we both shook our heads thankfully he didn't hit me and didn't stay too long he wasn't a one of the local guys who were very friendy and polite :) mga noticed a shoal of sprat breaking 5ft in front of us and we both cast right into the middle of them but no fish were willing :( later i notice a shoal of hundreds of little sandeel right in against the rock wall i spun along beside them and got a tap from a little grey gurnard first one of the year so 4 species on the day :D we decided to wrap up at 8pm with mga having no joy with the ray although two of the locals guys had already occupied one of the better spots when he arrived which limited his chances but that said he caught enough last sunday in Clifden
Nice meeting up with mga again and a lovely evening for fishing :D
Mga has some photos to add later....

Pretty much in the same area couldn't go straight out as there were two locals there had to go to the left but i was getting enough distance to hit the channel :D

it was wierd raining heavy in Galway and sunny and warm in Connemara the wind helped to get those extra couple of yards :)
