Tramore

At NIGHT, try the saleens (ask for directions lcoally) or with bait on a coming tide, Fitzgerald strand further on. You can plug and lure and SWFF off the rocks on Brownstown Head which is further on again. The best marks in Tramore itself are the slipway behind the town near full tide, try a whole fish bait like a small mack or similar looking for a big bass! You can also fish in close to the cliffs there and expect the same. Not the ideal time of year but the ban is over so you never know. On the main beach, fish it at LOW water or at HIGH water but not in between, one hour either side is best. LOW is a longer walk but better results IMHO, lug and mack combination best. Flats, macks, coalfish, small pollack and obviously bass are the main targets. if you get bored with this head for the Westtown Rocks outside the town and stop 300 metres short - informal parking. Scramble down to fish for wrasse under your feet and for rays and mullet out on the sand. Oddly enough no flats here. Sandeel best for the sand.

Time spent fishing is never time wasted...
2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks
