Weather:clear, slight wind in our faces at times them calm

Bait:mack squid sandeel

Rigs: various

Results:ray ray and more ray, with pollock and doggies too :shock:

Report: went out to a mark i was shown once before, thankfully the memory for getting to fishing marks is good (pity about the memory for remembering names :oops: ). Got to the mark and set up on the low rocks and cast out, some very good scenery here, with all rods out and ratchets set it was a waiting game, while looking into the depths that were at our feet wondering what else we would catch here a ratchet clicked, luckily for mga it was one of his :? ,i told him before its me that catches the first fish, but he wansnt having any of this, as he reeled in it looked like a good fighting fish too, a nice bend in his zippy suggested many possibilities, then a glimpse of the fish as it came near, a nice sized thornie, a quick weigh and photo and a nice 5.5lbs thornie was released.And then it went quiet.. too quiet.. it was looking like the only fish of the night.. :cry:
the tide had hit low and the slagging hit an all time low :twisted: and doggies were on the cards now.. not content in coming in one at a time, thankfully we were using single hook rigs, crabs took care of the second hooks :shock: it was hard to bait up and cast out before the second rod started to scream with the ratchet.. i cast out a pulley with a nice lump of mackerel and set to baiting up my second rod and the ratchet ran before i had chance.. damn these doggies, but to my surprise when i landed a nice 2lbs pollock :D . cast out with both rods again only to reel in on my profile to find a crab has run away with my hook again :oops: never again i think to myself as i attach a 4/0 and 30lbs snood(probably just as wel) slid on a whole sandeel and threaded it into place and cast out.. doggies were slowing down on their bites, as in we were getting the second rod out before they were biting on the first.. then click click click.. i thought poor doggie who has taken a 4/0 :twisted: struck into it.. 'ah feck' felt like a big lump of weed too.. there was movement there as if a doggie was having fun behind loads of kelp.. but to my surprise a nice thornie was coming in.. backwards.. :? .. with the help of mga to land the beast a quick weigh and photo saw the release of a nice 6lbs thornie.. that was me happy now.. not to mention 3 species but a larger ray than mga had :lol: :lol: doggies were still coming in but less frequent and the ratchet ran on my other rod.. this was a fish that didnt want to come in.. i knew straight away it was a ray and it was taking line, by this stage the tide was moving in and the ray sure knew how to use it to there advantage, it was in no hurry to surface as i brought it in near, slowly pumped it to the surface and another nice fish.. weighed and photo'd saw the release of a nice 6.5lbs thornie... by this stage we were keeping a close eye behind us as the tide was rising and filling the gaps in the rocks behind up, we both packed up one rod and i managed another doggie before one last cast..
mga's ratchet was the first to go and another photo opportunity with a thornie was had, not quite the size as the rest but by this stage arms were sore from all the fish in such a short time, just as i had packed everything and was about to reel in the ratchet on my rod went.. its always nice to end on a fish, thankfully this one came in a bit easier until the last second but by that stage it was too late and was landed on the rocks.. quick photo shoot before it was weighed saw the release of a nice 5.5lbs thornie.. now it was time to get off them rocks as our escape route was slowly being submerged.. and does anyone know how we got there, cos in the dark it would be easy to get lost, and thats just getting back to the car :shock:

8) nice fishing there stevecrow/mga. looks like you's had a busy time of it with the rays and dogie's, great report too mate, looking forward to seeing the pic's, great session lads, well done!!

Well done gents good stamp to the ray hope yis had your floaties on the scramble back sounded a bit hairy!!

Yep, as you'll see in the photos, we had 'em on, but it was the satnav in the car that would have been handy :?
