Duration:10:30-15:00

Tide:LW 09:30

Weather:sunny with light south westerly wind

Bait:Mackeral

Rigs:2/0 pulley pennals

Results:4 thornbacks(6lb),3 Pollack(4lb) and 1 mackeral.

Report:Decided to fish the entrence to Dingle harbour after seeing "cameron jack's" fishing report there last weekend.Had the 4 ray in our first 4 casts but was quite after that except for a few pollack near thye top of the tide.The harbour got very busy as the day went on which seemed to slow the fishing down.Three large trawlers where fishing just outside the harbour all day.Seems to be trawlers fishing close to shore everywhere ive gone fishing in the last month.

Nice report.
I suspect all the trawlers are close in because of the current fuel prices.

its a well known mark, known by half the anglers in the country and all the locals have known it for decades. a few reports here wont make any difference to the fishing pressure on it

sure its been publicised in bob mosses books for years

hope your right Adam,
just think we shouldn't make it too easy for em. it wouldn't be the first time the mark was emptied of fish if the boats were to make the five min journey and there is very very few thornies showing in kerry this year as it is.
the sentiment of the reply wasn't so much aimed at the tralee lads,they know the score all too well. more so the visiters (who are more then welcome,honestly). just to let people who visit that the fishing isn't as virgin as it may seem in west kerry-despite the rugged terrain. fish stocks in cork and kerry are under very serious preasure, on that we can all agree. i've had very few 'good days' fishing lately and not all of it due to my dodgy casting.
and come ere,i'v no prob passin on info about how my fishin (mosht of it :wink: ) has been goin to anyone-via pm!
just think we should all show bit of 'kerry' cuteness bout things in order to conserve what fishin seems to be left too us.

Agreed. Many of us (me included :oops: ) can easily include too much info in our reports, especially with landscape pics - not too difficult to pick out some of the locations. (Note to self: curtail landscape giveaway photos :wink: ).

Hmm, bit depressing to think angling reports could draw trawlers into an area.Only been fishing just over a year so maybe im a bit naive. Still find it hard to belleive that .5 million euro trawlers plan there fishing around my fishing reports :?

If Aiden was hauling in Cod then maybe I could see a point, but surely not Pollack and thornies, Pollack are all over the place and they would catch thornies with tangle nets would they not, this is just the reason I don't bother putting any reports on here any more :cry: good fishing lads well done!

This is a powerful site and it's a completely public forum.
When reporting from my favourite spot I report from Clifden area, if I catch macks from the bridge in Kinsale I will say exactly that (100 cars pass, and dozens of people nearby), no great secret.

Please don't stop reporting, I would prefer to see a "guilthead bream caught in Clonakilty area" - Must get one of those, but where are they?? than be loggging on to a dead website where no one reports anything

Personally i think if the trawlers really cant afford the price of fuel for long trips (and were targeting ray) the entrance to Dingle harbour would probably be the first place they would go!! Regardless of Aidans report.
