Report: As it was a nice sunny evening we decided to take a quick spin out to the harbour after dinner. I brought along some bread to have a go at the mullet. There was a large shoal of them close to Ahada. We threw in some bread but they has about as much interest in it as they had in next weeks referendum. They swam around the bread, under it and through it without as much as nibble.

So after that we headed on to another mark in the harbour. I had some lug worm left over from the weekend so I thought I should use it up - well feed the crabs at least - and you never know a passing fish might spot the bait before the crabs. I put a set of feathers on the second rod in case there were mackerel about.

Second cast of the feathers I felt a small hit and reeled them in to find a juvenile pollock, about 25 cm. A couple of casts later I had another small pollock, only 23 cm. That was followed by a pollock double - again small juvenile fish of between 25 -30 cm. I had a couple more after that, again less than 30 cm. The bites stopped then as it was getting too dark to use the feathers.

All I got from the rod that was set up with the lugworm was a crab - although I was not expecting much as you need to use peeler crab when fishing that mark.

But a pleasent way to spend a hour or so in the evening after dinner - 6 juvenile pollock so at least it wasn't a blank. But it might be a good mark on the rising tide or at high tide for larger pollock - I will have to give it another bash later in the week.
