Greystones 2nd june 08

#1 Post by eyesreilly »

People:me

Duration:7-30pm-10pm

Tide:rising

Weather:sw breezes, fine otherwise

Bait:mushy rag, refrozen mack

Rigs:2 hook flapper

Results: 4 doggies, 4 whiting, 1 dab

Report:Headed out to greystones to try to put the blank at ennerilly behind me   . Fished the rocks near the harbour across the bay from the swimming steps. The bagpiper was there again and it was a pleasure to hear him. Not so pleasurable was the sight of a seal staring up at me  . I'm blaming his cousin for my blank in ennerilly so it didnt look good. On the third cast i got a typical doggie bite and sure enough there was one on. It was a good feeling lifting him out of the water (to be immediately returned) and the blank was disappearing into the mists of time (though i'm sure fishface will remind me  ). I was getting bites regularly and in all got 4 dogs, 4 whiting and a dab on the last cast.As i was reeling in the dab i saw what i thought was a baby porpoise dead in the water drifting nearby. I tried to hook it with my rig but failed. Some kids told me they had seen a pod of porpoises earlier from the south beach. Funny how sometimes you can catch with bad bait and blank with the best of bait   . Last minute decision to head out so in the rush i forgot my camera so sorry no pics!!! :? ,,,,,, but heres one of my fishing buddies instead

Not a bad result fishing in daylight

A tip for when you fish that spot.

Park your car as far past the bend/up on the pavement as possible

Hi Aaron, yes I saw you and your mate alright. I was the guy (old codger) with the huge 50 yard cast   . If I had told Fishface he would have been the one with the 200 yard cast    .

He scared the seal off Rockhunter   . Seriously I should have brought him down to Ennerilly,,,,,,he has brought me luck in Greystones twice,,,,,,,,and he would have drowned out the slagging from Fishface (plaice and smoothound)

whats all this about me being a great caster and a better fisherman than you dave? my best cast is around 120 yds with bait attached and thats on a good day. your not to shy of that mark yourself, and as for being the better fisherman-thats a load of rubbish, your the one with the bass this year, not me, so please stop putting me on a pedestal, all i do is try and give a little bit of advice, as i have been at it longer than you, sometimes the advice is right sometimes it is wrong but i hope it is beneficial to you. as for fishing on thursday night the answer is no, ( i still hate you) but to be serious i am driving to belfast the flight is at 6.30 in the morning(fri) will be in touch in 2 weeks time
with friends like mine ----who needs enemies
