greystones, co wicklow
People:me
Duration:5pm-10.30pm
Tide:rising
Weather:sunny flat calm
Bait:lug, squid
Rigs:2 hook flappers
Results:4 lsd, 1 plaice, 1 flounder, 1 dab
Report:After digging some lug in Sandymount on Friday afternoon(doesnt the tide come in quick  ), i decided to fish the steps in Greystones on Sat. When I arrived and saw that there was nobody about (so i thought  ) i couldnt believe my luck. I hadnt noticed a guy sunbathing right where I was going to set up. I continued to set up and he soon moved when he saw me baiting up lug and squid (he must have been squeamish   ). I would have the space to myself   ,,,,,, but then an army of swimmers arrived to splash about and make noise  ,,,,but sure wasnt I a teenager myself once. I noticed 2 rods lying on the rocks . These belonged to a polish guy who told me he had caught 4 doggies. He then caught a diver snorkelling around the rocks  . A fellah set up next to me and we started talking. Some kids arrived next and we spent the next while setting them up ,,,,,,,freeing their lines,,,, giving them our bait,,,,,,but we didnt mind,,,,it was that kind of a day,,,,,,,pure relaxation. Then I heard the mournful lament of the bagpipes coming from a guy playing on the beach across from me. There again he could hardly practice in his room   . Oh,,, I almost forgot   in the middle of all this I caught a couple of doggies and a dab. I was happy enough as i hadnt expected much with the day being so calm. To cap it all off I got a real thump of a bite which turned out to be a nice plaice of about 30 cms, followed by a flounder of 30 cms and a dog. The last cast produced another doggie and i went home pleased as punch . All fish were caught on lug tipped with squid except for the last doggie which took squid as all the lug were gone. I also tried spinning when i saw some fry jumping about but i didnt hook up to anything.

Nice pic's eyesreilly, lovely plaice you caught there.
I was fishing the rocks just by the harbour last night, I'll post the report later today, I could hear the bagpipes and all.
I noticed a few anglers over by the steps, must of been you
I had a bash at some macks for the first 2 hours, and put the bait rods in as it got dark, I got f**king sick of catching dog's  I caught 14 in 2 hours, everytime I dropped the bait in, I was getting a bite, I actually spent more time untangling the rigs and re-baiting than I did fishing, now I understand why they are so hated by many anglers !!!
The night finished pretty bad aswell, as I was packing up, I heard an almighty screech of tyres and then a loud bang..........I scrambled up the rocks to find my car was spun halfway round and was now stuck in the middle of the road (not where I parked it :!: ) and I saw a black hatchback racing off.............the b*****d had hit the back of my car and f*****d off without stopping.
I didnt see the make of the car or the full reg, just that it was 05D...., that should narrow it down hey
I dare say he/she had come from the pub round the corner, so was probably bevvied up, but thats not excuse for not stopping

Hi Shamoo, that was me alright, I was watching over to your side of the bay to see if any macks were being caught. I saw some sprats jumping out of the water and tried spinning, but no luck  . Sorry to hear about your car :? :? , ,,,,, as you say he was probably drunk or not insured but thats no consolation to you. You must have got home very late with all that hassle. At least you werent standing at the back of your car loading up when he hit it   .
