Good marks close to Douglas, Cork ???

I'll be staying Douglas (Cork) next weekend and I'm tempted to pack some of the gear, incase I get an opportunity to get out fishing. :roll:

Can anyone recommend a mark or two that might be worth a few casts without travelling a million miles? :wink:
Any good tackle shops around Cork city that usually stock bait?

I may travel light and leave the beachcasters at home, so I might be better equipped to do a bit of flattie bashing. (The jury's still out on that one though :? ).

Any info, advice, etc. much appreciated.

your at the right side of the city monkstown and passage west and ringaskiddy have a look at my web site i have a good few marks with pictures .

theres a fairly good tackle shop just outside of douglas, off teh kinsale road roundabout, http://www.corkanglingdirect.com/content/view/12/27/ which will have frozen sandeel, lug etc. but don't think they have any fresh bait, well stocked shop if a bit pricey.

Hi Martin

You can get fresh bait (lug+crab) from sharkies which is also very near http://www.fishandtips.ie/index.php?opt ... e&Itemid=1
Click on 'google map' on the left hand side menu for a map.

You try the Douglas estuary around the old railway bridge...never fished it myself but I heard good reports...I can send you a map if you want.

fish that area a lot but the fact that the bass season is closed while your down i didn't say anything about the place you will come across a lot of flat fish here but access to here you either have to park in a car park by the rochestown inn pub Jacobs island mahon point these are the close,s not worth the hasel unless you were bass fishing.
