Im just wondering is this this reel designed for beachcasting and if so is it any good?

C3 has level wind. CT has no level wind which is the one suitable for beach casting. You might try a search of the forum as there has been discussions about this before.

the ct is a great reel i use one myself. very smooth and reliable and very fast!!

Yeah its a casting reel, I have the CT model, fairly new and have to return it with a small problem with the mag. They do cast well and are easy to get the hang of.

what's a competitive price to pay for a ABU Sports Mag 6500C3 here? I'm looking for my first multiplier reel, so I need something forgiving.

The level wind is usually quoted as 6500c3 though theres a cs at the end also. The non-level wind is of course 6500c3 ct. Check the angling mags for best price. The abu reals from veals are here:
