Antrim Coast - 11/5/08

#1 Post by round_ourway »

People: Me

Duration: 5 hours

Tide: High Water at the end of my session

Weather: Sunny sunshine -

Bait: Mackerel, Squid, Sandeel

Rigs: 3 Hook clipped, Pulley Rigs,

Results: 2 Dogfish

Report:

Headed out to local spot for a couple of hours to enjoy the sunshine and brought the rods along with me. I didnt have much in the bait department other than left over mackerel and a few sandeels I had at the back of the freezer plus squid.
Got to the mark around 11am and with low water approximately 10.30am. With nice deep water at the mark I sent a few baits out and sat back and enjoyed the sun. The place started to get packed with jet ski's revving passed me. I moved further round to a more seculded location and on the second cast i got a double shot of dogfish. This brought the attention of some boats and they then manoeuvred into the spot where i was casting. so I called it a day and went on. I dropped of my left over bait to a couple of lads on the way passed.

On a more interesting note - I got snapped of by something decent. something tells me it was maybe a double shot of dogs or maybe even a ray.

alright rab, sent ya a wee pm there. You getting out fishing much yourself fella?

I know, I just wish I could connect with any fish during the comps. It was a great day to be out regardless of the bad luck factor.

nice one, I can barely get fishing to donegal once a month never mind twice a week. I think its one of the best fishing locations out there. loads of spots up there for various species. I have caught bass, rays, huss and some massive wrasse up there. All being well the Kematches might be on another road trip next weekend up there.
My fishing session started really late this year with only my fourth trip at the weekend
