Cormoran Black Star CM Spinning Rod - Anybody used/own one??

Hi all,

Having snapped my spinning rod this week, I duly took it back to shop (only had in 8wks), and he offered an exchange.

He didnt have a direct replacement so I threw a few more €'s at a dearer one.

Its an 11ft (3.30m) Cormoran Black Star CM. Casting weight upto 80g, rung with fuji eyes, and cork butt.

I dont know too much about fishing tackle, being a bit of a novice myself, and have "googled" the rod make/model without much success, so was hoping some of you wise old heads here may be able to give me a heads up on if its any good or not.

Rod will be mainly used for Pollock/Bass fishing.

I have checked the cormoran website itself and they dont have this rod in their 2008 catalogue online, I have emailed them, but yet to hear back.

Any comments/oppinions would be most welcome.

Thanks for the reply.

I have seen that website alright, but couldnt find my particular rod as mine is 3.30M, which isnt listed anywhere on the "cormoran" website.

The reason I put the post up was that I had bought a rod for use as my 2nd rod, ie for spinning, light scratching on the beach etc, but the rod had snapped, the tackle shop I bought it from had offered me an exchange. They didnt have anything in the same price bracket, so I chucked a few more €'s in and bought the cormoran rod. It had been discounted quite heavily in the store as one of the eyes had been broken off and replaced, so I was just wanting to know if anybody knew of them or had used them before.

It was discounted down from €175 to just €90, so I was just curious to know if it was an decent bit of kit.

€175 for a spinning rod is serious money in my book, so I guess I just wanted a bit of reassurance that my €90 had been well spent.

I have used the rod a few times now, and must say I am pleased with it.

It has had no bother dealing with double dog's and even a 3lb wrasse.

I am a bit p****d though, as I have already cracked the ceramic in the top eye :x

I have a rod for the same purpose but i use an 11' daiwa carp rod that I picked up second hand. I find that quite good, I suppose a rod designed for carp could deal with just about anything.

my mate has one i was using it at the weekend and it was pretty good. was able to flick a light spinner out a good distance and it also had enough poke to pull wrasse out of cracks. id say it would do the job for the bass also. i dont think you should be using it for pulling in double dogs but mate you will wreck it.

I wasnt targeting double dog's with it, and certainly would not, but every now and then you'd get the odd double while scracthing on the beach for flatties :roll:

Your right about it having a good cast, I can bang a 2oz lead around 100yrds with it (the same distance as I can cast a 5oz lead with my beachcaster :oops: )

I was told it was built/designed for Salmon/game fishing
