You can buy fish measure in cms in any tackle shop and the points system is the best as there are fewer and fewer fish in the sea

After talking to the other committee members

The scoring will be as follows,
otherwise all other IFSA rules apply
(minimum size for fish to score is 20cm)

All competitors to bring their own measure.

10 points a fish + 1 point a centimeter + 20 points for the first of
the species.
All Lesser Spotted Dog Fish 30 points only (no species bonus).

Score card to be signed by an angler fishing adjacent to you at end of competition.

Rays measured by wingspan.

30 points for overall winner
25 for second
20 for 3rd
15 for 4th
10 for 5th
5 for 6th

Best 5 comps to count for overall series.
In the event of a tie
person with highest number of points from one event wins.

Ok, great. So all fish count, regardless of size? Or are we using minimum sizes (ie flounder of 20cm's doesn't count)?

Yep... just to confirm that we had an option to reduce the measured size with a closed comp but we wnated to stick with the IFSA 20cm limit.

So I don't need a bucket then. Thanks for all the replies. It's my first comp so I appreciate everyones advice and guidance.

By the way I am also not familiar with Greystones so if someone could PM a mobile no. to me in case I get lost I would appreciate it.

I will also be without internet access tomorrow so if you could send it today that would be great.

Recording your catch is easy..
Just put the species on the left, with the length of the fish in the space provided. WE tot up the points at the end.

In the example above
We have flounder of 25 cm (20+10+25= 55) first of species..
23 cm (10+23=33)

32 cm (10+32=42)

dab of
22 (20+10+22=52) first of species..
24 (10+24=34)

and

codling of 35 cm= (20+10+35=65) first of species..
codling of 40 cm =(10+40=50)

Total points 331

Is this clear enough?

Looks ok but is you get onto one of the Leinster club sec they should be able to supply you with a sample match card. If not try a club in your area as there is a set pattern now. For the Leinster Lge they are professionally printed and contain the following columns:

Species Length Sig Angler 1 Sig Angler 2
A line is filled in for each fish caught that makes the measure.

At the end of the comp you have to total your fish points and length points to get your total (and in your case the extra 25 per species). Once the angler has totted up his score he swaps it with one adjoining angler who checks it and signs it. Makes the job a bit easier for the person who is checking scores at the end.

I think by sticking to the system in use around Leinster and the rest of the country makes sense as it gets the lads used to what they will have to do when they fish opens etc....also its been in operation now for many years and has been tried and tested! :wink:

I hear what your saying, but for tomorrow we want some variety, so grouping the species together makes it easy to keep tabs on the difffrent species.
