bray harbour 2nd may 08

#1 Post by eyesreilly »

People:me and big mick

Duration:me- 8pm-12am,,,,big mick-3.30pm-12am

Tide:me high down

Weather:cool southerly breeze, calm sea, no rain

Bait:rag, mack sandeel

Rigs:1 hook clipped down, 2+3 hook flappers

Results:me,, 2 small dabs,,,,, mick,, 1 dab, 1 whiting

Report:Went out to bray to collect bait for Sunday evening and decided to check out the Harbour. There were a few people fishing and I spotted my workmate Big Mick ( who I thought had snuck out without telling me  ,,, till I checked my messages   ). By the time I got there that evening (8pm) mick hadnt had a bite  . The fishing had been very poor according to others on the pier and I was happy enough to land 2 small dabs for the night, plus about 15 crabs  . Some teenagers next to me had the catch of the night with a nice sized coalie, approx 35 cms, which they quickly photographed and returned  , which was nice to see. Most of the other anglers were leaving disappointed so I counted myself lucky. The most exciting thing that happened was when Bray scored against Cobh Ramblers, you want to have heard the roar from the Carlisle grounds   . I was only home when i started wondering about what was in store for Sunday evening, we (anglers) must be the eternal optimists  . Thats the thing, you just never know :?

Great report (as always  ) eyes,

I've fished Bray and Greystones a good bit now and whilst all around me seem to catch a few coalies, not me unfortunately , I'll have it added to the species list sooner or later though :)

Like you say....Ever the optimist's us anglers
