Report:
Headed off to Kerry in Sunday with Eddie who has just taken up fishing this was to be his third trip. His previous trips had resulted in a coalfish first night and a flounder second trip he had yet to blank. We arrived at waterville at low water but weed in beach meant we had to move went to other side and perfect surf fished til 730 not a tap between us. decided to try derrynane up to high water and some of the drop thinking the outflow of lagoon might be attractive ti fish on the drop. We stopped at the blind piper for Guinness and lovely grub suitably refreshed we made the trek to the beach. I was looking at the scenery when I heard a whistle I couldn't see anyone on the beach when I heard it again and it was Eddie reeling in a beautiful seatrout. I had never seen one caught in the sea and it was in beautiful condition. Covered in sea lice! We fished on til 1230 without a tap, though it was late now and had put down a long day I reckoned back to waterville near low water would produce. Eddie was up for it so a trip to the mobile and a few biscuits and more sandeel from the freezer we headed back to the beach. There was lovely surf no weed and first cast my rod bent over struck into a bass and then gone must have been a bad knot left rig out there I hate the idea of a fish attached to that. Next I heard the whistle and Eddie was playing lovely 3 lb bass! I kept getting serious bass bites for an hour maybe 6 of them kept missing tried fast slow in between all to no avail. Must ask Eddie how to do it! all in all a great day and slept well afterwards I can assure you!

all those missed bites........next time let out 6/8 ft. line after u have casted so as it hangs limp from the rod "slack" if you had done this then of the 6 missed tugs u had, at least 3 would have resulted in hook-ups if not all 6, i got 17 tugs fishin the "slackline" recently 17 bass landed no missed fish, i fished with 4 others they all blanked..........y.....line to tight
