Dingle Kerry - 18th to 21st April

#1 Post by Eoghan »

People: Me, Stephen, Bro in law

Duration: Thursday 18th to Monday 21st but see report

Tide: Spring - various - two planned sessions per day

Weather: Baltic

Bait: Lug / Spinning

Rigs: Simple 6/0 single snood

Results: 3 bass and 3 flounder

Report:

In a word - Disaster.
Cold easterly winds killed the fishing. First two sessions on the plugs didnt even produce a take.
First evening session with lug priduced 3 bass and 3 flounder. Fished from 4pm until 9.30 so hard work for little reward. Bass were all schoolies.
(Stopped at 9.30 as mark drains of water)

Tides were perfect but the cold east/Northeast wind was from hell.

As a result we all came home early on Saturday to salvage the weekend and get some good brownie points from the other half's.

We know some local fishermen down there and when we arrived they told us we were wasting our time and to go to the pub. They were right.

Worst weekend in about 8 years of going to Kerry.
To make matters worse I lost my Bass title to my mate who had 2 bass to my 1.

That's a real pity about the wind and the fishing Eoghan, I was expecting to read a report like last years.
