Galway meet..

#1 Post by stevecrow74 »

thinking of planning one again for this year seeing as the last two were a total success..

venues to think about

little killary or gurteen

both hold ray, dogs, flats and huss

my original thought was to have it the may bank holiday (sun 4th may (Tide is high around 17:20))
but open to suggestion

also thinking of making it an all day event (as opposed to an all night'er like the previous sessions)
i.e. plan to fish from 1pm- 10pm (BBQ @6pm(then back to Galway for a session of a different type))

anyone interested??

here's what happened at the first two :D

Might be on for this once it's firmed up. Has anyone fished the other beach, Dogs Bay?

This could be a runner, I'll pm you next week.

Question: what tidal stages do Dogs Bay and Gurteen fish best? and how far is 'at distance' for the ray as my casting is poor

poor casting? you and me both sloworm, ray on gurteen bout 120, have seen them taken closer in though, trick is hitting as close and accuratley as you can to the eel grass bed, keep hitting the same spot and youl build up a scent trail drawing them out of the beds. only fished it twice, blanked the first time, cause i couldnt cast far enough, caught dogs and huss the second

i think we'll go for the latter date. Give some of the east coast lads a chance to sort things out.
and no worries if ye cant make the dates, there will be a second meet planned for late summer
