Donabate

#1 Post by Wes »

Sat 16th April
Time: 9am-3:45pm
Bait: Lug - Rag - Squid

2 of us fished the spot, slightly choppy, but nothing bad about the day.
Tried the combo of bait but nothing worked except lug on its own.
No great catches, lots of small flats, 9 to be exact.
Still, wasnt a blank.

Fished up on the rocks, further down from the hotel, before you come to the next beach.

caught a 1lb (or damn close to) plaice from the rocks, I think it was a place as it had orange spots (a little faded though) on its back? caught it on the first cast to sandeel, let it go thinking that we'd get be plenty more, DOH nothing else but few lost rigs.......gotta get busy making more rigs !!

yep, same spot you were at.

I walked further along that path towards tower beach just before portrane, it looks like there are some great rock marks here at HT, I walked it again at LT and I'd say you'd end up losing a load of gear - all boulders & kelp.

Ever hear of any reports around there? I couldn't find any references in the 'shore marks' section !
