I'm going to be heading over to Perth at the beginning of June and will be stopping over in Singapore on the way. Although its only going to be a short trip I'm hoping to squeeze in a bit of fishing in Perth but I've heard that Singapore is a good spot to pick up fishing gear cheap. Anyone got any tips regarding either?

Hi Dave ya could try the guys over on Western Angler for some info regarding fishing Perth in June, I'm not much help regarding the fishing only been here since last year and still trying to work my way about.
Should still be some decent fish to be had from shore then or even a charter trip, or if your not so lucky you could hook into one of the resident rays along the beaches and play 'tug of war' with it until you get either fed up or sore arms!!
My cousin sat on his knees for what seemed like ages one night, just watching a big ray swim to africa and almost spooling 400m of line! Not much he could do but hold on and i wasn't much help as i couldn't stop laughing at him
Out fishing today and we got busted up by yellow tail kingfish on fly along a reef, and hooked a 50kg+ ray on a clouser!!

Thanks for that Ryan, looks like a good site alright. I reckon I should find the kind of information I'm after there. I haven't a clue what species of fish you get there at this time of year never mind how to catch them. I'm going to bring a little 9' 15 - 40g travel spinning rod and a 2500 size spinning reel loaded with 30lb braid, I reckon it should be ok for a bit of messing about and hopefully catch me a fish or two. I think I might look into taking a trip on one of those charter trips you mentioned also.
