Dun laoghaire, 15/april/08

#1 Post by corbyeire »

People:me, eric, shamoo0408

Duration: ? about 7 - 9.30

Tide: on the fill

Weather: light breeze mild

Bait: mack, lures

Rigs: flapppers

Results: 2 pollack

Report: was a nice evening and shamoo offered a lift to do a bit of spinning, picked up eric on the way

headed down the east pier and then realised half way down the whole thing was being reconstructed and we couldnt cross over to the seaward side

after a long walk back around we got spinning - eric picked up a pollack with in 5 casts

nothing much doing after that

lost a lure eventually - the boys started bait fishing

the rough ground started to take its toll on the rigs - but at darkness shamoo got another pollack

stayed on with ad hoc flappers and weights

lost some more gear and then called it a night

good to meet the 2 chaps - and get the blanking started on this coast

should have said the lads had a couple of taps on the bait but nothing was landed with the snags

there were also two massive seals knocking about - the geese were also flying north :D

A lesson learnt by all I think :!:

Dont walk have a mile up the pier when you know deep down you cant get to your mark

Bring more tackle

Have more time

And I was in the boy scouts (oops did I say that out loud  ) so should know all about being prepared :!: :!: :!:

But caught my first pollock so it wasnt all bad 8)

Great to meet up with Corbyeire for the first time and fishing with eric is always a pleasure.

Thanks wayne, should be heading to Belmullet, Mayo, all things being ok this weekend so hopefully add a few mores species to the list :D

Alexthefisherman, yeh he came all the way from Galway, but muggins here had to go pick him up and drop him off..... so all in all a pretty long day and if I'd have known he was only gonna add to his long list of blanks I wouldnt have bothered

**sorry Corbyeire.....couldnt resist 8) **
