At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

Penn GX6000

#1 Post by enoonan001 »

Now I am not sure if this is a proper Penn reel or a Jarvis Walker re-badged but either way I'm disapointed with it.
I've used the reel only about 15 times since I bought it but each time it has been completely cleaned and washed down and the heaviest thing its had to deel with was a 5 lb ray.
Yesterday evening however I was getting gear ready for a session this weekend and I found that the reel had seized. After 2 hours of taking apart and putting back together along with alot of penitrating oil, 3 in 1 and a little tub of petrol I managed to get it running again. Its not anywhere near perfect but will do the weekend.
Has anyone had any similar problems with this reel and what would people recomend for a very good fixed spool replacement?
