Fishing Awareness Week 26th April to 3rd. May

#1 Post by Ross »

Shannon Regional Fisheries Board are holding a Fishing Awareness Week from 26th April to 3rd. May 2008.
They are looking for a Sea Angling Club to hold a Sea Angling Competition on 3rd. May. They would sponsor all the prizes for the competition, have merchandise available for all competitors and the theme of the competition would be to bring a friend fishing.
Can anyone help?

Howya Keith we actually have a competition in the region but its the week before on the 26th. Dont think it would be possible to change it due to tides, peoples work commitments etc.

I've sent this request to the secatary of Shannon town angling club.

The major question would be insurance. Would the fisheries board be liable for non-members if they want them involved if a club orgainised the competiton?

There might be an option for people to turn up and help beginners?
I'm free that day, could probably swing it if there were a few of us?

Estuary shoudl be fishing reasonably well by the start of May. presume they are fishing the near shore to Ballbunion at the car park?

FWIW

Time spent fishing is never time wasted...

2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks
